LTPD plans Shop with a Cop

Lehigh Township Police Department, in conjunction with K-Mart, will be participating in the "Shop With a Cop," program on Saturday, Dec. 22. This program involves officers donating their time to take young children in need shopping for Christmas gifts for members of their immediate family. The child also will be able to pick a special gift for themselves. Three children were chosen with the assistance of Lehigh Elementary School.

The day will start out with breakfast at 9:30 a.m. at Blue Mountain Drive-In Restaurant, 1439 Blue Mountain Drive, Danielsville, so that the children will get to know the officers. After breakfast, one child will be assigned to an officer who will then escort the child around K-Mart and assist in selecting gifts. Once the gifts have been selected, volunteers will wrap the gifts so that they are ready for giving on Christmas Day.This program is being funded by donations from private citizens and businesses within Lehigh Township so that a child in need can have a wonderful holiday. All donations collected will be evenly distributed to the children to purchase gifts.
