An Ohio truck driver was killed in a crash involving two tractor-trailer rigs along foggy Interstate 80 in Monroe County early Monday morning. State police at Swiftwater identified the deceased driver as Daniel Snyder, 41, of Youngstown. According to troopers the crash occurred about 3:30 a.m. as Snyder's rig crashed into the rear of another rig which had stopped after it hit a concrete slab that had fallen off a third rig. There was dense fog in the area at the time. It took several hours to free Snyder from the wreckage. He was pronounced dead about 6:30 a.m. The road was shut down completely until noon while troopers investigated. The shutdown caused a massive traffic tieup with some motorists caught in it for several hours. The crash occurred near the Crescent Lake rest stop. Traffic was re-routed off Interstate 380 and onto SR940. No one else was reported injured in the crash.
