The Christmas season has arrived at Penn's Peak in Jim Thorpe.

Several seasonal concerts are scheduled this month at the venue, starting with a show by country music star Travis Tritt on Friday night.Tritt brings his Christmas show to Penn's Peak, with Lyndsey Highlander opening for him at 8 p.m. Tickets, which can be purchased in advance or are available at the door, are just $37 and $42.Travis Tritt fell in love with music as a child and taught himself how to play guitar at the age of 8 and was writing songs by the age of 14.His parents were not convinced of his desire for a musical career, but with Travis' staunch determination, he proved to them that he could achieve success.It was 1982 when Travis was recording a demo tape at a private studio that a Warner Brothers executive took Travis under his wing. Travis worked with Danny Davenport while also honing his country rock/Southern rock sound on the honky tonk circuit.It all paid off in the end though, his debut album, "Country Club," appeared on the shelves in the spring of 1990.
