The Railroad Street, Route 209 highway project, which had been merely a dream for more than 20 years, has become reality and was formally dedicated during a ribbon-cutting ceremony held this afternoon. About 200 people ignored windy, frigid weather conditions and watched as Mrs. Victoria Swartz, surrounded by local and county officials, cut the ribbon held across Maiden Lane by Lehighton police officers Paul Szoke and Kris Kunkle. Mrs. Swartz is the widow of Sgt. Stanley Hoffman, who was killed in Italy during World War II and for whom the highway is being named.
