In addition to over 90 bags and boxes of clothing and household items from their Community Giveaway Saturday morning, members of the Tamaqua Volunteers community initiative group helped the Citizen's Fire Company of Middleport purchase and load over $1,700 worth of Dollar Tree merchandise in Hometown to be given to hurricane victims in both New York and New Jersey.

The Citizen's Fire Company of Middleport raised the $1,700 donation after standing at the St Clair Wal-Mart for over 36 hours. Items purchase at the Hometown store consisted of many brooms, dust pans, flashlights, batteries, paint rollers, gloves, metal scrapers, cleaning supplies, bleach, detergents, cleaners, hygiene supplies, kids games, paper products, garbage bags, baby items and so on. They still need help sorting and folding all the bags of clothing that remain in their firehouse.They have to have all the clothes sorted and folded, as the missions they are taking them to in NY and NJ don't have enough volunteers.
