A Barnesville man who claimed his life was in danger if a local pharmacist didn't provide his abductor with drugs, is safe and sound, but behind bars today.

Tamaqua police were dispatched to Shafer's Pharmacy, 11 Center St., shortly after noon Monday after a male called the store and reported he was being held at knife point. The caller said he would be freed if the pharmacist delivered Percocet, a Schedule II drug, to a blue dumpster across the street. Officers then searched the area but were unable to locate anyone in distress.A second call was made to the pharmacy a short time later. This time the male caller threatened to blow up the pharmacy if they didn't deliver the Percocet to him. He indicated he was on West Broad Street, in the area of St. Jerome's Catholic Church. Cpl. Henry Woods responded to the area and observed a white male, who began to hurry away when he saw police. Woods stopped the male and identified him as Jeremy Frank Lockwitch, 24, of 221 Church St., Barnesville. Lockwitch admitted making the calls and denied ever being held at knife point, despite his initial claim.He was arraigned before duty District Judge Stephen Bayer, of Tamaqua, on charges of theft by deception, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and making terroristic threats. Bail was set at $10,000. Unable to post the required 10 percent, Lockwitch was incarcerated in the Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville.
