You don't have to be a quilter to appreciate the fine art of quilting. From vintage to new, area quilters will have their artistic fabric stitchery on display at the Palmerton Area Library's Sixth Annual Quilt Show on Sunday, Oct. 14 from noon until 4 p.m. at the library located at 402 Delaware Ave., Palmerton.

Those attending will be able to meet Cheryl Hank, a certified Quilt in a Day instructor.If you have an antique quilt and would like to know more about it, Barb Garrett, a quilt historian will be able to give you an idea of how old your quilt is.The Quilt Show is a fundraiser for the library, which like all libraries, is facing cut backs from the state and local governments.Terri Sheckler, the coordinator of the event, loves to quilt and enjoys talking to other quilters. She remembers one story about a quilt that was made from funeral ribbons. They're the ribbons that are on bouquets of flowers at funerals. A family kept all the ribbons from a loved one's funeral and they were made into a quilt.Every quilt has a story. The public is invited to attend and view stories stitched together in fabric.Attendees can vote for a Best of Show, participate in a Chinese auction featuring several quilt and sewing related items.
