Taking part in the worldwide global day of student prayer, students and other participants around our area held their hands in prayer around the flagpole in front of area schools.
This was repeated by millions of participants at schools all over the world at 7 a.m. today.The "See You at the Pole", SYATP, prayer event began in 1990 as a grass-roots movement with 10 students praying at their school. More than two decades later, millions around the world pray on their campuses on the fourth Wednesday of September.The event flyer, website and Facebook page states that SYATP is a simple prayer rally where students meet at school flagpoles before school.It adds that the event is held to lift up their friends, families, teachers, school and nation to God.SYATP is a student-organized, and student-led event.More information about the annual event can be found at
