Jeep driver escapes injury in accident

A Pottsville man escaped injury when he lost control of his Jeep in heavy rain on SR61 in North Manheim Township on Wednesday, Sept. 5.

Joseph P. Graydus, 29, was traveling north in the right lane at 9:57 a.m. when a tractor trailer passed him. Graydus' Jeep hydroplaned, went over a curb, overturned and slid down an embankment. The vehicle stopped, on its passenger side, in a creek about 40 feet off the highway.Graydus, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured.State police at Schuylkill Haven were assisted by Schuylkill Haven Fire Department, the Schuylkill Haven Dive Rescue and Recovery Team, and Detweiler's Towing.
