A Lehigh County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following an incident that occurred about 12:37 a.m. on Sunday, July 1, along SR100 at Lillian Lane, in Upper Macungie Township.

State police at Fogelsville said John Weston Simes, 70, of Breinigsville, was stopped for motor vehicle code violations after nearly striking a state police cruiser.Simes was found to be under the influence and was taken to the county DUI center for a blood test.The DUI charge is pending the test results.
