The Tamaqua Area Adult Day Care Center has a number of activities planned for the month of June, including an "oldies" dance on June 9, at the Tamaqua Elks. Music will be provided by DJ Original Sounds.Other special days this month include: June 12, construction of flag pinwheels; June 13, special breakfast and Salvation Army service; June 14, Flag Day celebration; June 15, sing along with Audrey Christ; June 18, Father's Day celebration; June 20, monthly birthday party; June 21, trip to Heisler's Dairy Bar; June 25, baking applesauce loaves; June 26, baking mini cakes; June 27, cooking class.In addition to weekly sing-alongs and social games, hairstyling and manicure services are available. Cheryl Moore will officiate at the 9 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. Sunday school classes will meet at 10:15 a.m.Activities for next week will include: Wednesday, retirees meet at 10 a.m.; Thursday, prayer group meets at 4:45 p.m., worship and music committee meets at 6 p.m., senior choir rehearsal at 7 p.m.An old fashioned picnic will be held June 16, from noon to 8 p.m., at the church.Calvary UMThe Rev. Ed Bean will officiate at this Sunday's 10:25 a.m. worship service in Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church. The service will include Baptism and the celebration of Children and Youth Sunday.Also on Sunday, a service of praise and worship will be held at 6:30 p.m.A time of prayer and praise will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.Graduate recognition will be held during the 10:25 a.m. service on June 17.A combined Bible school, for Calvary and Zion Lewistown Churches, is being planned for June 11-15.
