Tickets go on sale Saturday for a major country music concert coming to Penn's Peak.
Martina McBride, whose hits include "Independence Day" and "This One's For the Girls," will be at the venue on Sunday, Oct. 28. Tickets for "Martina McBride: One Night 2012," are $85 and $62.It's one of two concerts for which tickets will be sold beginning Saturday. They also go on sale for "The Lettermen - The Christmas Tour," which is making a stop at the venue on Saturday, Dec. 8. Tickets for this show are $32 and $27.Meanwhile, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, who was to play at Penn's Peak this coming Saturday, has had to postpone the event until Friday, Sept. 21, due to a family emergency of a member of the group.Tickets for the July 2 show will be honored at the Sept. 21 concert.Tonight, Dark Star Orchestra: Continuing the Grateful Dead Experience will be presented at Penn's Peak starting at 8 p.m.Dark Star Orchestra performs the Grateful Dead just like the Grateful Dead did during their 30 years of touring. Dark Star Orchestra will, on any given night, perform a show based on one of the thousands of set lists from the Grateful Dead's touring years.No detail is missed in the set up of a Dark Star Orchestra show. The band will adapt their stage positioning, vocal arrangements, equipment and even the instrument placement to match the era of the show they are resurrecting that night. At the end of the show and they will announce the date and venue of the original set list.Martina McBride has won virtually every country music award for which she qualifies including Entertainment of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, and Song of the Year.She has had many number one hits. Among others were "Like A Broken Wing," "The Way That I Am," and "Wild Angels."She recently had a trifecta of sold out shows in the Midwest. The powerhouse vocalist had packed houses at the Shooting Star Casino (Mahnomen, MN); Surf Ballroom (Clearlake, IA) and Honeywell Center (Wabash, IN).
