A Carbon County teen, facing four criminal counts, was placed in the county's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition (ARD) probation program for first time offenders last week.
Julian D. McKenna, 19, of Palmerton, was placed for six months on three counts of theft of moveable property and one count of receiving stolen property.He was arrested for the receiving count on Nov. 8, 2011, by Palmerton police. The thefts occurred on May 1, July 6, and Oct. 11, 2011.McKenna was placed by Judge Steven R. Serfass with the understanding that he enter the U.S. military. He must supply the signed contract with the military to the adult probation office to prove he is entering the service.Additionally, he was ordered to make total restitution of $1,760.49 to the victims, pay court costs, which average close to $1,000, and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.If he successfully completes the program the charges will be dropped. He did not admit guilt in entering the program.
