Northern Lehigh Area High School senior Margaret Surdovel has been named the Slatington Woman's Girl of the Month for May.

She is the marching band president and is a member of the Concert Band, Concert Choir (President), Lehigh County Chorus, the Class of 2012 Historian, vice president of Interact Club, president of Library Club, a member of School Theatre Productions, Newspaper, Yearbook and SADD.She received a 2011 Freddy Award Nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Featured Female Ensemble Member. She plans on attending a four-year college to pursue a degree in Music Education.Margaret is the daughter of Mary Surdovel of Slatington and Michael Surdovel of Macungie. She is the granddaughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Bechtel of Slatington (grandparents.)
