S. Carbon tops in Senior Games

With all the games complete and the totals tallied, the Southern Carbon County seniors from Palmerton and Lehighton are this year's top dogs.

On Wednesday, seniors from Lehighton, Jim Thorpe, Panther Valley, Palmerton and Weatherly competed in the final day of competition of the 2012 Carbon County Senior Games.The overall standings at the end of the games were Southern Carbon County with a score of 827, and Northern Carbon County -Jim Thorpe, Panther Valley and Weatherly seniors -with a final score of 693.The games will conclude today at 4 p.m., with a banquet at Mahoning Valley Ambulance Hall.The results for yesterday's event, which included Bingo, Pinochle, Rummy, the Polka, Slow Dancing and the Jitterbug are:Bingo: Dorothy Quigley of Panther Valley, gold; Aileen Steigerwalt of Lehighton, silver; and Beverly Dolgopol of Lehighton, bronze.Pinochle: Eileen Bollinger of Palmerton, gold; Del Swartz of Palmerton, silver; and Ray Berger of Palmerton, bronze.Rummy: Rodney Snyder of Lehighton, gold; Janice Cunfer of Lehighton, silver; and Ardella Eidem of Lehighton, bronze.Polka: Joe and Barbara Mustacchio of Lehighton, gold; Linda Bottcher and Linda Daubenspeck of Lehighton, silver; and Jean Fisher and Carol Stefanik of Lehighton, bronze.Slow Dance: Howard and June Farber of Jim Thorpe, gold; George and Linda Kunkel of Jim Thorpe, silver; and Henry Long and Fran Haas of Lehighton, bronze.Jitterbug: Linda Bottcher and Linda Daubenspeck of Lehighton, gold; John and Sharon Dewald of Jim Thorpe, silver; and Joe and Barbara Mustacchio of Lehighton, bronze.
