ANDREW LEIBENGUTH/TIMES NEWS Two automated external defibrillators (AEDs) were donated recently to the Tamaqua Little League by two local groups. An automated external defibrillator or AED is a portable electronic device that automatically diagnoses any potential life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias of ventricular fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia in a patient, and is able to treat them through defibrillation, which is the application of electrical therapy to stop arrhythmia, allowing the heart to reestablish an effective rhythm. Bill Angst, President of the Tamaqua Area Little League Baseball Association (TALLBA), presented the Tamaqua Lions Club and Hometown Air Products with appreciation plaques during the opening game of the season.
