Choral program

The Tamaqua Middle and Senior High School Vocal Music Department will present its annual Spring Choral program this Thursday, May 3 in the Tamaqua Area Auditorium. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will feature performances by the Middle School Select and General Chorus, the Senior High Concert Choir and the Jazz and Concert Chorale.This year's program will feature the music of Mozart, Duke Ellington, Leonard Bernstein, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry and Adele.Accompanists will be Julian Gerace, Steven Moyer and Erin Raymond. The choirs are under the direction of John Buglio.Doors will open at 6:45 p.m.Historians meetingThe Tamaqua Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, at 114 W. Broad St., Tamaqua. The meeting is open to the public and anyone interested in learning more about, or preserving the area's heritage is welcome to attend.For more information, call (570) 668-1880.Art showThe Tamaqua Area Middle School Spring Art Show will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. on May 3 on the main floor of the middle school. Students from sixth, seventh and eighth grades will have their art work displayed, including paintings, 3-D interiors, murals, sketches, masks, group projects, cultural art, tiles, watercolor, fashion design, collages and more. There is no entry fee for the art show.St. Peter's UnionThe Rev. Cheryl Moore will officiate at the 9 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. The service will include Holy Communion. Confessions will be heard at 7:30 a.m., followed by a Recitation of the rosary and Devotions before the 8 a.m. Mass.Members of the parish Holy Rosary Society will attend the 8 a.m. Mass on May 6 and receive Holy Communion as a group. A rosary will be said before the Mass.The Ladies Auxiliary May Tea will be held at 4:30 p.m. on May 7, at the home of Bernadette Griffiths.
