The congregations of 17 churches were represented on Saturday, March 31, when the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, held its annual Lenten Communion Breakfast and Service.

This year marked the 37th consecutive year the women have presented the program, in which women from churches of all denominations in the Carbon County-Panther Valley area are invited to attend.The morning began with the traditional serving of breakfast to the program participants and their guests. The meal was made and served by the men of St. Paul's, led by Brian Buzik.Following the breakfast, a short play was presented by the "St. Paul Players."This year's play was entitled "The Jerusalem Times News Special," and was written and directed by longtime church and WELCA member Donnas Miller.Participating in the play were: Dr. Jennifer Vermillion, the interviewer; Ann Valent, innkeeper's wife; Gary Blake, the Pharisee from the temple; Roy Henninger, the servant in charge of the water jars; Johnna Weaver, a guest at the wedding in Cana; Brian Buzik, the leper; Dr. Louis Vermillion, a disciple; Maxwell Vermillion, the boy fisherman; Dr. Richard Vermillion, Philip, a disciple; Emma Weaver,

S.A.L.M., Mary Magdalene; Sister Geralyn Haggerty and JoAnn Haggerty, soloists; and Alex Haggerty, organist.Following the play, a Communion service was held.Presiding was the Rev. Marjorie Keiter of St. John Slovak Lutheran Church, Lansford.Seventy women persons were in attendance for the morning program.
