Kristen Shickora is having an outstanding senior season as a member of the University of Georgia women's swim team.
Shickora has played a key role in the Lady Bulldogs continuing two long winning streaks and earning the No. 5 ranking in the nation.Shickora not only has turned in impressive performances in the backstroke her specialty but she is also contributing in freestyle, butterfly and relay events for Georgia.The Marian High School graduate has already qualified for the NCAA championships in the 100 backstroke (52.27), where she has the top time in the Southeastern Conference this season. In addition, she has provisional qualifying times in the 200 backstroke (1:54.66), the 100 butterfly (54:23), and the 200 IM (1:59.27). She is also part of the Lady Bulldogs' 200 and 400 medley relay teams that have also turned in provisional qualifying times for the NCAAs. At times this year, Shickora has also swam in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle.Georgia finished its dual meet season with an 8-1 overall record and a 5-0 mark in the SEC. The Lady Bulldogs currently have a school-record (in any sport) 77-meet home winning streak and have won 26 straight SEC meets.Shickora and the Lady Bulldogs will take part in the SEC championships Feb. 15-18 at Tennessee and she will also take part in the NCAA championships March 15-17 at Auburn.
