Thanks to surveillance pictures taken by Wal-Mart and tips from concerned citizens, Franklin Kunkel III, 21, of Quakake, a parolee, is behind bars, suspected of stealing almost $8,000 worth of portable electronics from the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Hometown.
Photos of Kunkel and another man appeared in the TIMES NEWS and other media outlets Immediately after the brazen Thursday morning robbery. This resulted is numerous tips, leading to the arrest of Kunkel.Police reported that Kunkel shook the display case inside the store so hard he broke the lock off."He was able to reach in and grab almost a dozen iPads and iPods," said Corporal Duane Frederick, Rush Township Police. "A lot of Rush Township and surround departments put a lot of time tracking this down. The public helped greatly following the immediate media coverage."Police reported that another man was with Kunkel during the robbery.No charges are filed against the second person as he did not steal anything and provided police with evidence against Kunkel.
