Churches sponsor Caroling in the Park

The first Sunday in December once again found members of the Christian Action Council of Palmerton Area Churches sponsoring a carol sing at the bandstand in Palmerton's park.

Salem United Methodist Church provided the booklets with the words to the familiar carols that were sung. Charlie Silliman and his wife of Salem United Methodist were handing them out. Henry Wajda played the keyboard and Larry Ahner of Holy Trinity Lutheran led the singing.Pastor Nathan Fry of Living Hope Lighthouse Church gave an opening prayer asking God that the different churches gathered there would work together to honor Him.The first song was "Oh Come All Ye Faithful." The style of music changed with "Winter Wonderland" and bells were handed out to add to the music.Children 14 and under sang the first verse of "Away in a Manger," with everyone joining in the next two verses."Frosty the Snowman" was cheered on his way as the final words were sung.Following the caroling, people crossed the street to Living Hope Lighthouse Church for refreshments."Bring your friends next year," said Ahner.

Lindsey Kuntz, 4, and David Pignoli, 7, enthusiastically ring the bells for "Winter Wonderland."
