Scenes reminiscent of the year 1917 were reenacted in Mauch Chunk this morning when Robert Lobien, 23-year-old Second Ward resident, among the first Carbon County draft eligibles to volunteer for selective service training with Uncle Sam's first peace time army, entrained for Wilkes-Barre aboard a
L.V.R.R. train amid a tumultuous ovation collectively contributed by more than 1,000 people, 500 of them school pupils. Music was played by the Mauch Chunk and East Mauch Chunk school bands.
