Firefighters from all four Tamaqua fire companies, rescue squad, as well as Summit Hill and Coaldale, responded to two general alarms last night at the ABC High Rise, on E. Broad St., and the Elwood apartment building, on Schuylkill Avenue. Both incidents were cause for alarm at first as residents reported seeing and smelling smoke. Firefighters investigating both incidents ruled each report unfounded. Tamaqua police also responded. Fire police detour traffic for the duration. No injuries were reported.
