Senior Expo slated in Jim Thorpe, Thurs.

Jim Thorpe- Senators David Argall (R-29th) and John Yudichak (D-14th) and State Representative Doyle Heffley (R-122nd) are hosting an expo for the area's senior citizens on Thursday, Oct. 20, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Jim Thorpe Memorial Hall, 101 East 10th Street.

The expo will feature dozens of exhibitors from local, county and state agencies to provide up-to-date information on programs and services available to the area's older residents.Lunch will be provided free of charge."I am pleased to be co-hosting a Senior Citizens Expo with Senator Yudichak and Representative Heffley in Jim Thorpe," said Senator Argall. "By combining our resources, we can provide a very informative event for local seniors. The expo will highlight a large variety of services available for seniors to assist during these tough economic times.""It is a pleasure to partner with my colleagues on this special event for the area's senior citizens. This annual event showcases what is available for seniors, allowing them easy access to the services they need at a fun and informative event," added Senator Yudichak."By joining forces, we are able to create a great event that offers something for everyone while also saving money. I'm looking forward to my first senior expo and to meeting older residents throughout the district," said Heffley. "I am also glad to be working with the two senators in hosting this event.Vendors will include government agencies, health and nursing care facilities, consumer protection agencies, independent living services, safety awareness organizations, and other groups that help and assist the region's senior citizens.The expo is free and open to the public.
