Borough police said on Sunday, Sept. 18, about 5:15 p.m. they were called to the McGarvey's baseball field located along W. Sixth Street for a report of a burglary and vandalism.
Upon arrival officers were informed that the basketball nets were ripped down and the concession stand was broken into. Taken from the stand was an unspecified amount of money.Also, the stand sustained a large amount of damage, police noted.On Monday, Sept. 19, about 9:40 a.m. police were called to the Jim Thorpe Area High School football field, located along E. 13th Street, for an attempted burglary.Upon arrival officers were informed that an attempt was made to enter the concession stand located inside the field area.Police said the two incidents appear to be related.
