Vehicle overturned in South Tamaqua

Just after 5 p.m. Sunday, emergency responders were called to a green Ford Explorer lying on its roof on the southbound side of SR309 in South Tamaqua. A female driver and male passenger were taken by ambulance to St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital in Coaldale. Their names and current conditions were unavailable from West Penn police as of this morning. Responders had to work in pouring rain for the duration of the response. Responding were West Penn Fire Company, police and Tamaqua Rescue Squad. Penn Mahoning, Lehighton and Tamaqua ambulances also responded. Fire Police closed the southbound side of the road during the response.
