Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on two driving under the influence (DUI) arrests made by officers.
On July 24 about 7:30 a.m. a police cruiser was almost struck head-on by another vehicle along Sullivan Road near SR940. Police activated the emergency lights and siren on the cruiser and attempted to stop the other vehicle.The driver did not stop until the area of SR940 and Deer Path. During the incident police observed the other vehicle cross into the on-coming lane six times and onto to the shoulder of the road six times.At the stop the driver was identified as Virginia Ciliento, 28, of Brooklyn, N.Y. She was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. She was then transported to the Pocono Medical Center (PMC), East Stroudsburg, for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results.On Sunday, Aug. 14, about 3:41 a.m. officers received a call from the communications center of a vehicle driving all over the road in the area of SR940 and Summit Avenue. Police located the vehicle and observed it eastbound on 940 crossing the center line several times.A traffic stop was made and the driver identified as Robert Brown, 52, of South Sterling, Wayne County. He was found to be under the influence and was placed under arrest.He was transported to PMC for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results.
