A fire that destroyed a vehicle in Schuylkill County last month has been ruled an arson.

State police at Frackville said the fire that destroyed a 1992 Mercury Topaz on July 24 about 8 a.m. along SR339, just west of Mahanoy City, in Mahanoy Township, was deliberately set.Troopers said the rear window on the car had been smashed out and then the vehicle was set on fire. The car was owned by Frank E. Koles, 47, of Mahanoy Township. The vehicle was valued at $500.
