Carbon County Sheriff Dwight Nothstein, left, recently recognized Anthony "Tony" Tammaro, center, for his service to the department. Tammaro, who retired Wednesday, served the county as a security guard at the courthouse in Jim Thorpe for the last seven years. Tammaro said the best thing about his job was the people. "The people I worked with, they really made it a pleasure," he said. "It was a privilege to work with people who cared and looked out for each other." Presenting the plaque of recognition to Tammaro with Nothstein is Lt. David Midas, right.
