Food pantryThe Lansford Food Pantry will be open from 9:30-11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 15. The pantry, which provides food to low-income residents, is housed in the Trinity Lutheran Church at 104 East Abbott St.Parks and rec boardThe Lansford Parks and Recreation Board recently underwent a reorganization. Officers are Gwen Collevechio, chairperson; Marie Ondrus and Irma Leibensperger, co-treasurers; and David Burrell, treasurer. Councilman Adam Webber is also a member of the board and Tom Evans will serve as the pool maintenance person.Since the reorganization, members have been revamping some of the administrative programs and are formulating plans for a kiddie activities room. Also in the works is some end-of-season painting and the re-mulching of the area's playgrounds.A number of fundraising events will be planned to help boost the funding provided through the tax millage allotted to parks and recreation. A benefit dance is being planned for Sept. 9 at Kelly's Irish Pub. Music will be provided by the Shantations.Volunteers will be needed and a recruitment meeting is being planned for the near future.The next meeting of the board will be held at 6 p.m. on Sept. 11 at the pool.
