Nine enter guilty pleas

Nine persons facing criminal counts entered guilty pleas on Tuesday in Carbon County court, seven were for driving under the influence (DUI) counts. The pleas were entered before Senior Judge Richard W. Webb.

Rickey Nelson Haydt, 49, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of DUI. He was arrested on July 3, 2010, along Pohopoco Drive, in Franklin Township. Given a test, the result was .19BAC.Webb sentenced him to serve 60 days to six months in jail, a fine of $300, one year license suspension, and get a drug and alcohol (D&A) evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment. He will serve 16 days in prison on consecutive weekends beginning Aug. 19 at 7 p.m.The remaining 44 days will be spent in the county's Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP) with electronic monitoring.Michael Brett Hoffman, 31, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of DUI. He was arrested on Jan. 16 along SR248 in Franklin Township. Given a test, the result was .21BAC.Webb sentenced him to serve five days to six months in jail, a fine of $300, one year license suspension, and get a D&A evaluation.He will begin the jail term on Sept. 1 at 9 a.m.Brooke Lee Huntington, 34, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count each of DUI and persistent disorderly conduct. She was arrested on Feb. 7 along Main Road, in Franklin Township, and refused a blood test. A charge of aggravated assault on Officer Robert Hontz was dropped in a plea agreement.On the DUI charge she was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, one year license suspension, and get a D&A evaluation. She was given credit for three days and was paroled.On the conduct charge she was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail consecutive to the DUI charge. She was given credit for three days and paroled.Michael Richard Hydro, 44, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of DUI. He was arrested on Jan. 21 along SR209 in Franklin Township. Given a test, the result was .23BAC.Sentencing was deferred so Hydro could apply for placement in the IPP.Kenneth Carl Rudisill, 68, of Albrightsville, pleaded to one count of DUI. He was arrested on April 13 by state police along SR903 at Behrens Road, in Penn Forest Township.Webb placed him on probation for six months and ordered he pay a fine of $300 and get a D&A evaluation.Marcus Sauerzopf, 27, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of persistent disorderly conduct. He was arrested on Nov. 21, 2010, by Palmerton police in the area of 140 Delaware Avenue.Webb sentenced him to serve 48 hours to one year in jail and zero tolerance imposed on D&A use. He will begin the jail term on Aug. 19 at 9 a.m.Bambi Lynn Taschler, 33, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count each of DUI and disorderly conduct. She was arrested on March 6 along Delaware Avenue in Palmerton. Given a test, the result was .15BAC.On the DUI charge she was sentenced to serve five days to six months in jail, a fine of $300, one year license suspension and get a D&A evaluation. On the conduct charge she was placed on probation for 90 days, concurrent to the DUI count.She will begin the jail term on Aug. 21 at 8 p.m.Each defendant must also pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
