First Lt. Harrison Holland of Mauch Chunk and the section he commanded when they landed on D-Day has received a Presidential Unit Citation for "extraordinary heroism and oustanding performance of duty in action." His unit worked with the medical corps, picking up the wounded. He said, "Everyone was a hero who landed on D-Day as far as I'm concerned, but those fellows from the medical units were the real heroes. They are all unarmed and they went out under heavy fire to give first aid to the wounded and to carry them in."
