Monroe man facing multiple charges

A Monroe County man is facing multiple charges including driving under the influence (DUI), simple assault, fleeing and eluding, all stemming from a domestic incident.

State police at Fern Ridge said troopers were dispatched to 44 Fairgrounds Rd., in Chestnuthill Township, on May 19 for a domestic incident involving an assault. Upon arrival troopers observed the suspect in the incident, identified as Martine Taylor Jr., 42, of Gilbert, sitting in the car of the victim, whose name is being withheld. Taylor and the victim had gotten into a verbal dispute that turned physical.Taylor then fled in the vehicle and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit ended when Taylor overturned the vehicle on Mountain View Drive. Taylor exited the vehicle and did no comply with verbal commands, troopers said. He was tased and taken into custody.Taylor has been charged with DUI, fleeing or attempting to elude police, simple assault, harassment, and the following motor vehicle code summary offenses of drivers required to be licensed, driving on roadways laned for traffic, careless driving, reckless driving and unauthorized use of an automobile.Troopers also said Taylor was cited for criminal mischief for an incident that also occurred on May 19 about 3:10 p.m. Troopers allege that Taylor intentionally drove a vehicle over the lawn of Nicholas V. Raymond, 61, who resides along Gilbert Road, near Triebel Lane, in Chestnuthill Township causing damages to the lawn.
