Just before midnight Friday night, while on patrol, Tamaqua police pulled over a tractor trailer driving the wrong way on North Railroad Street (SR309), southbound. While pulling over the driver of the trailer pulled his truck into the lot of the Family Dollar parking lot and attempted to make a right turn onto Pine Street, where he struck a pole and demolished a Republican Herald newspaper stand. A nearby TIMES NEWS stand was not damaged. The driver was cited.
