Four persons charged with driving under the influence (DUI) and related counts entered guilty pleas on Thursday in Carbon County court and were sentenced by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic as follows:

Brian Joseph Balliet, 34, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded to one count each of DUI and driving while under suspension-DUI related. He was arrested on Oct. 30, 2010, along SR903 in Penn Forest Township by state police at Lehighton. Given a test, the result was .11BAC.On the DUI charge Nanovic sentenced him to serve six months to five years in jail, a fine of $1,500, one year license suspension and ordered to get a drug and alcohol (D&A) evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment.On the suspension count he was sentenced to serve 90 days in jail, a fine of $1,000, and will get another year suspension. The jail terms run concurrently.He will begin the jail term on June 1 at 5 p.m. and was granted work release privileges.Thomas Lee Erzak, 22, of Whitehall, pleaded to one count each of driving under suspension-DUI related and fleeing or attempting to elude police.He was arrested on April 11 along SR248 in the area of Bowmanstown. State police attempted to stop him for speeding when he fled. A chase then ensured with speeds reaching 125 miles-per-hour on at least two occasions during it. The chase ended when Erzak lost control of his car trying to exit 248 at Gun Club Road.Nanovic deferred sentencing to a later date.Sterling Allen White, 38, of Allentown, pleaded to one count each of DUI and disorderly conduct. He was arrested on Aug. 28, 2001, along Bankway in Lehighton. He refused a blood test. While at the hospital for the blood test he became disorderly and combative.White was orginally placed in the county's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition (ARD) probation program for first time offenders but was revoked from it.Nanovic sentenced him to serve 48 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $300 and a one year license suspension. He must also get a D&A evaluation and render three hours of community service per month while on probation. On the conduct charge he was fined $300 and costs. He was given credit for four days spent in jail on the charge and paroled.Roberto Magobet, 33, of Hazleton, pleaded to one count of DUI. He was arrested on March 11 along North St., by Jim Thorpe police. Given a test, the result was .20BAC.Nanovic sentenced him to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, one year license suspension, and get both a D&A and mental health evaluations. He began the jail term immediately.Each defendant must also pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
