Bloodmobile

An America Red Cross Bloodmobile will be held May 25 in Tamaqua. St. John United Church of Christ, Pine and Biddle streets, will serve as the collection site. Hours will be from 1-6 p.m.Anyone 17 or older, who weighs at least 110 pounds and is in general good health is eligible to donate blood. Each unit of donated blood has the potential to help save three lives. Donor cards or proper identification will be required.Donors may make an appointment by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS.Student recognitionTickets are still available for the 53 annual Tamaqua Student Achievement Dinner, sponsored by the Tamaqua Area Student Achievement Committee. The first session will be based on the New Testament, July 18-22 and July 25-29, from 9 a.m. to noon. The second session will be Aug. 1-5 and Aug. 8-12, from 8 a.m. to noon.Registration forms will be mailed to students who were enrolled in the Religious Education Program during the 2010-2011 school year. cocciob@ptd.net.Class of 2011Parents of the Tamaqua Class of 2011 will conduct a used clothing drive the weekend of May 7-8.Donated items are to be dropped off at the Citizen's Fire Company, Rowe Street, between the hours of noon and 3 p.m.Items which may be donated include: wearable, usable clothing; shoes, belts and handbags; coats, hats and gloves; bed and bath linens; stuffed animals and toys.All items must be packaged in plastic garbage bags. Shoes should be in a separate bag.
