In preparation for a rehabilitation project at Tamaqua's Owl Creek Dams, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission has temporarily lifted all limits to the number, size, creel and seasonal limits for all species of fish at the Upper Owl Creek Dam. The action is effective immediately.
All other fishing laws and regulations will remain in effect at this time. These temporary regulations have been posted at the dam and will remain in effect until further notice. The change is due to an anticipated total drawdown of the water in the Upper Owl Creek Dam in preparation for a dam rehabilitation project. The project is scheduled to begin this summer and includes increasing the dam height, spillway and outlet work renovations, in addition to the construction of an emergency spillway. Similar improvements are planned for the Lower Owl Creek Dam later this year. For further information, call (570) 668-3444, 668-0300 or stop in at the Tamaqua Municipal Building, 320 E. Broad St.
