Christina Tomsic is in her third year of carrying on a legacy that her late father, Michael Kiss, and his friend, Doug Haydt, started 14 years ago.

Kiss spent much of his childhood at the Blue Mountain Fish and Game Association in Walnutport and as an adult held many positions there, including president. Wanting to share the joy of the lake with others, especially those who need to keep their spirits lifted, the Day at the Lake event was founded.Each year, handicapped children and adults, along with their parents, siblings, caregivers and teachers are invited to enjoy a day of fishing at the specially-stocked Blue Mountain Fish & Game Association's lake in Walnutport. In addition to fishing, the day is filled with many activities including face painting and characters that mingle among the guests. Fishing contests are held throughout the day, however everyone leaves as a winner.Groups are invited to attend. This year the event is host to Dream Come True, Center for Vision Loss, and Special Olympics of Carbon County on May 7. Another day, May 10, is planned for the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit 21.
