Former Pleasant Valley standout Jeremy Gigliotti threw a complete game, two-hit shutout to lead East Stroudsburg University to a 1-0 win over Bloomsburg in its series opener on Friday.
The senior lefthander's performance marked his second shutout in four PSAC East starts this season as he walked just one and struck out nine. Gigliotti, who has taken a shutout into the seventh inning in all four of his divisional starts this season, gave up leadoff singles in the first two innings and after both runners advanced to third on errors, got out of the runner-on-third, one-out situation in both innings. He then retired 18 of the final 19 batters he faced, allowing only a leadoff walk in the sixth inning, and he struck out the final five hitters he faced, including striking out the side in just 10 pitches in the seventh to end the game.
