A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a one vehicle crash that occurred about 10:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, along SR61, just south of Mall Road, at the Schuylkill Mall in New Castle Township.

State police at Frackville said Justin L. Heiser, 24, of Frackville, was driving a 1993 Nissan Altima southbound in the left lane when he lost control while rounding a slight right curve.The car traveled across the right lane and onto the west berm where it struck a PennDOT speed sign. It then traveled down a slight embankment and struck a large tree. It car came to rest against the tree facing north.Heiser suffered moderate injuries and was flown by Medevac helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. Troopers said while at the scene Heiser showed signs of intoxication.The DUI charge is pending blood test results, troopers added.
