State police at Lehighton said troopers responded to a report of a two vehicle crash at the above stated location. Upon arrival the driver of a vehicle involved had fled the scene. She was identified as Beth Ellen Rivera, 26, of Stroudsburg. She was later located and placed under arrest for DUI. Troopers said Rivera then claimed she was sexually assaulted by a male individual and that was why she fled the crash scene. She was taken to the Palmerton Hospital for a blood test. While having blood drawn, Rivera told the phlebotomist that she had been raped and wanted to see a doctor. A doctor came to speak with Rivera and examine her but she refused all treatment and a rape kit.Rivera refused to cooperate and did not want to talk. Troopers interviewed a front seat passenger who was with Rivera who told them that they were not being chased by anybody and that Rivera was not raped and that nobody chased her after the crash. The passenger said Rivera just fled the scene.Rivera was charged with DUI, hit and run and false reports to law enforcement.
