$200,000 price tag placed on Trout Creek project

The Trout Creek Water Main Crossing project could cost Slatington just under $200,000.

The borough received 11 bids from companies on Tuesday for the project, with Wexcon, Inc., of Mohrsville, Berks County, turned in the apparent low bid of $197,420.That bid was $10,980 less than the next lowest proposal of $208,400 submitted by R-III Construction of Nazareth.Other companies that bid were Silora Bros., of Shickshinny, Luzerne County ($212,665); Livengood Excavators, Inc., Walnutport ($218,608); Linde Corporation, of Wilkes-Barre ($243,578); Ankiewicz Enterprises, Inc., Tamaqua ($251,475); Hilltop Excavating, Inc., Walnutport ($264,890); Bellview Pump LLC, Walnutport ($295,925); Greenland Construction, Inc., of Clearfield, Clearfield County ($317,700); JMT Environmental Technologies, Inc., Lehigh Valley ($327,979); and

R.G.C. Development, of Bath ($343,430).A contract could be awarded when borough council meets at 7 p.m. March 14The work to be performed consists of furnishing all labor, materials, equipment and appurtenances for the installation of about 560 linear feet of 16-inch DIP transmission main replacement across the creek, including tie-in to existing transmission mains.The project will be paid for through Community Development Block Grant Money from Lehigh County.
