A Monroe County man is facing charges of retail theft and receiving stolen property. Pocono Mountain Regional police identified the defendant as Vernice Harvard, 48, of Tobyhanna.
Police said on Feb. 17 they received information that Harvard was selling stolen proeprty to a business located in Coolbaugh Township. PMRP then provided that information to area police departments.On Feb. 22 police were contacted by Professional Eye Associates, Fork St., Mt. Pocono, who reported the theft of eye glasses. Police reviewed video surveillance from Feb. 17 which showed a male stealing eye glasses.Police said they identified the male in the video as Harvard. Harvard was arrested on Feb. 23 at his home in Coolbaugh Township. Police recovered four pairs of eye glasses in the home that he had taken from the Professional Eye Associates. The eye glasses are valued at $1,360.Harvard was arraigned on the two criminal counts before District Judge Richard Claypool. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 4.
