A Carbon County teen is facing a long state prison term after pleading guilty on Tuesday in the county court to assaulting police officers.

Jeremy Hirochek, 19, of Nesquehoning, pleaded guilty before Judge Steven R. Serfass to two counts each of aggravated and simple assault and one count each of terroristic threats, resisting arrest, persistent disorderly conduct and possession of a controlled substance.Because of the seriousness of the charges and a prior record, Hirochek was told by Serfass that he faced a long state prison term at the time of sentencing. Serfass deferred sentencing and ordered the adult probation office prepare a presentence investigation (PSI).Hirochek was arrested following incidents that occurred on Sept. 24, 2010, in Nesquehoning.Police were called to the New Columbus Park about 10:59 p.m. for a fight. Upon arrival officers Ronald Peck and Brian White could not find anyone at the park. They began interviewing persons on Garibaldi Avenue and learned that there was a domestic incident in which Hirochek was assaulting his girlfriend. Officer Timothy Wuttke was then notified of the incident.A male was observed by Wuttke on foot near the park. Wuttke identified himself and ordered the male to stop, but the person fled into the park and hid behind a concrete pillar.Wuttke ordered the male, who was identified as Hirochek, to come out from behind the pillar.Hirochek was ordered to the ground and handcuffed. Found on his person were several pills and a small bag of vegetable matter later determined to be marijuana. Police also detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on Hirochek.While on the ground Hirochek began screaming for his girlfriend and calling the officers names. Inside the police car he began to bang his head off the cage of the vehicle and rear drivers' side window. Officer Peck attempted to stop Hirochek from kicking the window and stop him from hitting his head. At this point Hirochek kicked Peck on the left side of the neck.Hirochek was taken to the police station and placed in a holding cell. While in the cell he banged his head off the cell door and concrete wall and began screaming profanities at the officers and threatened to kill them.Hirochek was bleeding from banging his head in the cell area. Wuttke entered the cell to restrain him and sustained an injury to his thumb.Hirochek was transported to the hospital due to his injuries. While placing him in the ambulance Hirochek began to fight with the EMS personnel. While in the ambulance Peck collapsed and became unresponsive. Peck was taken to the Lehighton hospital and admitted for his injuries. Wuttke and White were treated and released at the hospital.At the hospital Hirochek continued his violent behavior with the hospital staff and was finally sedated. He also spit on the officers during the incident.
