Addressing Carbon County school directors in the Court House in Mauch Chunk, Robert E. Stoner, director of the Bureau of Adult Vocational and Practical Arts Education Department of Public Instruction, Harrisburg, announced the approximate cost of constructing a new building to accommodate 300 students in such a school would approximate $300,000. Creation of a vocational school in Carbon County has long been the aim of Carbon County Superintendent of Schools Stuart E. Prutzman.
