The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens Inc. met Jan. 25 in the Ryan Township Fire Company, Barnesville, with 37 members in attendance. Treasurer Shirley Becker conducted the business session. Chaplain Kathleen Valentine offered an invocation.Reports were presented by secretary Florina Martin and treasurer Becker.Birthday greetings were extended to Edna Fegley. Rhoda Purnell was added to the sick list and a thank you was received from Covenant Home Care, acknowledging a donation made in memory of Grace Fritz.The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month. Anyone 50 or older is welcome to join.BloodmobileAn American Red Cross Bloodmobile visited Tamaqua on Jan. 26, collecting 53 units of the "gift of life." Four potential donors were deferred. Multiple people donated in honor of William Messerschmidt.Local volunteers assisting Red Cross personnel were Jean Stevens, Darlene and Bob Zeckman, Dolly Shirey and Bob Shirey.William Mackey was awarded a multigallon pin for reaching the four gallon milestone.The Bloodmobile was held in the social hall at St. John United Church of Christ, Pine Street. This visit was sponsored by Regina's Beauty Shop, Tamaqua.St. Peter's UnionThe Rev. Rodney Wells will officiate at the 9 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. The service will include Holy Communion. Sunday school classes meet at 10:15 a.m.Also on Sunday, the Daisies will meet at 2 p.m.Activities for next week include: Tuesday, Called to Care Committee meeting at 7 p.m.; Wednesday, retirees meet at 10 a.m.; Thursday, prayer group meets at 5 p.m., Worship and Music Committee meets at 5:45 p.m., Confirmation class meets at 6:30 p.m. and Senior Choir rehearses at 7:45 p.m.St. Jerome'sSt. Jerome's Parish has established an Office of Adult Formation in an effort to help adults feel closer to God, increase a sense of community and foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of Roman Catholic beliefs.The group meets twice monthly on the first and fourth Sundays, from 9-10 a.m. The next meeting will be held this Sunday, Feb. 6. The topic will be "Annulments - Catholic Divorce?"In addition to the bimonthly meetings, community, family and faith building events will be hosted throughout the year. The next community event will be a Valentine's date night featuring a presentation of the movie "Fireproof." The date night will be held Feb. 12, beginning at 7 p.m., in St. Jerome's Alumni Room.
