Palmerton HS Leo Club volunteers aid at Craft Fair

For a bunch of young whippersnappers, they sure know how to be crafty.

Leave it to the volunteers of the Palmerton Area High School Leo Club to once again demonstrate their hard work ethic and volunteerism.Student members of the club volunteered at a Craft Fair held recently at the high school, said student Karl Pielmeier, public relations person for Leo Club.Pielmeier said the students volunteered for six hours, at which time they set up tables, unloaded and reloaded crafts, and served food at the concession stand.Leo Club member Katie Rinfret was among the volunteers who said she was glad to help."All of the crafts were unique, and it was nice to help out the community," Rinfret said. All proceeds from the Craft Fair went to Relay 4 Life and the American Cancer Society, Pielmeier said.In September, the club volunteered at a community art show at St. John Neumann Regional School. At that event, the students teamed up with the members of the Palmerton Concourse Club.Pielmeier said the students helped hang artwork, set up displays, and clean up the venue after the show.He said the group plans to continue their volunteer work throughout the school year.
