Schuylkill crashes

State police at Frackville reported investigating three crashes along Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County over the past weekend.

Two crashes occurred on Thursday, Nov. 25. The first at 11:04 a.m. as Conica M. Smith, 36, of Baltimore, Md., was driving a 2000 Lexus RX300 on the exit-ramp in Mahanoy Township, heading toward SR54. While rounding a right- hand curve the vehicle left the road and rolled onto its roof. Smith and two passengers, a 17-year-old male and a 1-year-old female, both of Baltimore, were all not injured. The vehicle had to be towed from the scene.Smith was cited for driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed.The second crash occurred about noon also in Mahanoy Township. Troopers said James W. Gottshall, 51, of Seven Valleys, York County, was driving a 2006 Ford F150 pickup truck northbound when the truck went onto the berm and struck a dirt embankment in the median. After impact the truck rolled over and came to rest on its wheels.Gottshall was injured and taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center (SMC), in Pottsville. A passenger, Theresa M. Gottshall, 40, same address, was not injured. The vehicle had to be towed from the scene.Troopers cited Gottshall for driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed.The third crash occurred about 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 28, also in Mahanoy Township. Troopers said Mary Jablonski, 84, of Montgomery, N.Y., was driving a 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis northbound when the vehicle left the roadway, traveled through the median, and entered the southbound lanes.The Mercury then struck a 2006 Jeep Cherokee operated by Kevin Cooke, 59, of Clinton, N.Y., on the driver's side. The Mercury then continued across the southbound lanes and struck the guide rail along the west berm. It then bounced off the guide rail and went back into the southbound lane where it struck a 2003 Jeep Wrangler driven by Jason Ranville, 32, of Washington, D.C.The Mercury and Wrangler came to rest in the median while the Grand Cherokee came to rest on the west berm facing the wrong way.Jablonski was taken to the SMC for observation but apparently suffered no injury. Her passenger, Anthony Jablonski, 85, same address, was not injured. Cooke and his passengers, John Daprix, 21, Michael Daprix, 19, and Elizabeth Williams, 19, all of Clinton, and Ranville, were also not injured.Troopers said Jablonski will be cited for causing the crash.
