Icy road conditions last Thursday, Nov. 25, were blamed for two of three crashes investigated on Schuylkill County roadways by state police at Schuylkill Haven.

A crash occurred about 11:05 a.m. along Mill Creek Avenue in East Norwegian Township. Troopers said Fallon M. Tice, 27, of Coaldale, was driving a 2005 Jeep Liberty and descending a hill and she lost control when the vehicle hit icy patches. The vehicle slid onto the south berm where it struck a utility pole.Tice and her passenger, Steven B. Reed Jr., 29, also of Coaldale, were not injured.The second crash occurred about 11:56 a.m. along Ann St., in Norwegian Township. Troopers said John R. Simpson, 38, of Pottsville, was driving a 1998 Ford F150 pickup truck southbound when it began to fishtail after traveling over an icy patch. Simpson lost control with the truck going onto the berm and hitting an embankment before rolling over onto its roof, coming to rest in the northbound lane.Simpson was not injured.A crash was reported about 1:07 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 27, along Chestnut Road in West Brunswick Township. Troopers said Stephen A. Staller, 19, of Schuylkill Haven, was operating a 1998 Subaru Legacy eastbound when a deer entered the road in front of him. Staller attempted to swerve to avoid the deer but struck it. He then turned back to the right and lost control. The vehicle began to turn clockwise and traveled off the road and onto the berm where it collided with the guide rail.The car then went partially airborne and traveled down a grass field where it rolled over four times before coming to rest 196 feet from the point of impact with the guard rail.Staller sustained a minor injury in the crash but did not require medical attention. The vehicle had to be towed from the scene.Staller was cited for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed.
