15-year-old seriously injured after crashing car in East Penn Twp.

A 15-year-old East Penn Township youth reportedly took a relative's car and then crashed it into a tree on Saturday.

The name of the youth a male wasn't released because of his age, but he was reportedly seriously injured.He was flown to the Lehigh Valley Hospital in Salisbury Township by MedEvac helicopter, which landed in a field about a quarter of a mile from the accident scene. The helicopter crew assisted paramedics and EMTs at the scene of the accident.The one-vehicle crash happened shortly before noon on a narrow, unpaved and curvy road that goes off German's Road in the township.The car made a violent impact with a large tree, striking it broadside on the driver's side. It came to rest between a larger tree, which was struck, and a smaller tree.The youth, who was alone in the vehicle, was heavily entrapped in the wreckage for over a half-hour. Extrication was performed by members of the East Penn Volunteer Fire Department.Responding in addition to the fire department were the paramedics of Lehighton Ambulance, the Palmerton Ambulance Corps, and East Penn Fire Police.The investigating officer is Daniel Magarelli of the East Penn Police Department.
